A free game like Wavelength, played on your phones
On a Scale is Letternerd’s game like Wavelength. Each round one player secretly sees a spot on a 0–10 dial between two ends, such as useless to essential, and gives a one-line clue. Everyone else places their guess on the dial, and whoever lands closest scores. It is free, runs in the browser and takes three to ten players.
What is Wavelength?
Wavelength is a social guessing board game designed by Alex Hague, Justin Vickers and Wolfgang Warsch. A card shows two opposite ends of a scale, one player secretly sees where a target sits between them and gives a clue, and their team turns a dial to where they think it is. It is played in teams around a physical dial, and its fun comes from finding out how differently your friends see the same thing.
Why people look for games like Wavelength
- You want to play a spectrum guessing game with friends who are not in the room.
- You do not have the box, or want something to start straight away from a link.
- You want everyone guessing for themselves rather than as a team.

How On a Scale plays
- A pair of ends appears, such as forgettable at 0 and iconic at 10.
- The clue-giver secretly sees a target number on the dial and writes a one-line clue to nudge the table towards it.
- Everyone else places their guess. The target stays hidden until the reveal.
- Closest guess scores, and the clue-giver role moves to the next player.
If your group likes reading each other
On a Scale is about how your friends think. So are Great Minds, where you only score if you side with the crowd, and How in sync are we?, which finds the two people at the table who think most alike.
