Free games like Boggle to play online
For a game like Boggle online, try Letter Web in the Letternerd Arcade: drag through touching letters on a 4x4 grid to spell words before the clock runs out, then compare your score with friends on the daily board. For a word race against friends in a room, Word Hive gives everyone the same seven letters and two minutes. Both are free in the browser.
What is Boggle?
Boggle is a classic word game, now made by Hasbro. Letter dice are shaken into a grid, a sand timer is turned over, and everyone writes down the words they can trace through neighbouring letters. When time is up, players compare lists, and words that more than one person found usually do not count. It needs the box, the dice and everyone around one table.
Why people look for games like Boggle
- You do not have the box with you.
- Your friends are in different places.
- You want a quick round on your phone, with a score you can compare.

How to play Letter Web
- Open Letter Web. Everyone gets the same 4x4 grid of letters that day.
- Drag through touching tiles to spell a word of three to seven letters, then lift to submit it. You cannot use a tile twice in one word.
- Longer words are worth more, and good words in a row build a streak that multiplies your points. A wrong word or a repeat breaks it.
- When the clock runs out, your score goes on today’s board. Switch it to friends to see how you compare.

To play live against each other, host a room of Word Hive: seven letters, one in the middle, two minutes, and extra points for words nobody else found, much like crossing off shared words in Boggle. For a letter and a list of categories instead, try Category Clash.
