Minesweeper Classic logic puzzle

What is Minesweeper?

Minesweeper is a logic puzzle best known as the game that came with Microsoft Windows from the early 1990s. A grid hides a number of mines. Opening a cell shows how many mines touch it, and you use those numbers to flag the mines and open every safe cell. Open a mine and the game is over. On some boards the numbers run out and you are left to guess.

How to play Sweep

  1. Open Sweep. The board starts with a patch already opened.
  2. Each number tells you how many mines touch that cell. Open the cells you know are safe and flag the ones you know are mines.
  3. On a number whose flags are all placed, open around it to clear every other neighbour at once.
  4. Clear the board and a slightly bigger one follows. Opening a mine ends the run, but you keep your score so far.
